Position

Bayside Networks is looking for Network Engineer that will work primarily with one of our San Diego DoD contractor small business customers. This client is in need of Linux based system management and best practice development / implementation services. A candidate “must demonstrate” 1-2 years, hands-on, prior work experience serving as an IT Technician/Linux engineer working predominantly with Linux based systems to be considered for this position.

Requirements

A good candidate would have a wide knowledge of Linux, especially Ubuntu systems, workstation applications, cloud services, and basic server infrastructure and management.

CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ONSITE IN SAN DIEGO

(NOTE: We offer an additional cash incentive of $5,000 for candidates that would be moving to San Diego to take this position. The cash incentive will be paid after completion of first 90 days of employment, starting from your first day of work in our San Diego office.)

Technical skills that will be valued for this position:

• LINUX
• LINUX file systems, scripting – some ability to script with Bash and / or Python
• Cyber Security Compliance Standards (a plus if you have experience in this area)
• Must pass a background check – required by multiple clients of ours.
• One or more of LINUX+, Security+, Network+ Certs are “plus” for this position
• Some experience with Windows based systems is also a “plus” for this position.

A candidate “must demonstrate” 1-2 years, hands-on, prior work experience serving as an IT Technician. This position will require a candidate to be able to hit the ground running with minimal on-the-job training. Candidates with experience only in an academic setting will also be considered.

Candidate "must live in or be able to commute within" the San Diego area and provide on-site support to clients. Self-learning and a genuine interest in the field is also greatly valued. The position is often self-directing and will require a candidate to be self-motivated, adaptable, and resourceful, in addition to being a great team player.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and prior experience working in a security sensitive environment is a plus. Prior military or defense contracting experience will also be helpful for this position.
