Join our team as a Child & Family Educator providing and implementing comprehensive early childhood education and support services for children and families served in Head Start in accordance with performance standards in a Home-based model.

The Child and Family Educator (CFE) is a professional position providing intensive support services to participating families and is their primary contact. The CFE works to empower families in the areas of parenting, child development, health, nutrition, self sufficiency, and family relationships. They also support families in goal setting and assists in utilizing community resources. This benefited position is classified as regular, full-time and budgeted for 40 hours a week, with Winter break, Spring Break, and Summers off. Fully qualified-$21.21, Trainee- $20.30

REQUIREMENTS

• Training plan may be considered based on qualifications.

Required Education

AA degree in Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, or ECE related field

Knowledge of

1. Current best practices in early childhood development and education; developmentally appropriate best practices in early childhood home visiting programs.

2. Available services and resources for pregnant women, children and families in the community

3. Principles of case management, advocacy and family dynamics.

4. Principles of human development and family services.

5. Basic rules and principles of grammar, written and verbal communication, and mathematics

6. Computer processing and database programs

Ability to

1. Establish consistent, stable and supportive relationships with pregnant women, children 3 to 5 years of age and family members from varying cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.

2. Prepare the home and classroom environments to meet the educational needs of each child.

3. Identify and nurture strengths, maintain objectivity and be non-judgemental.

4. Work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.

5. Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; receive information and feedback in an understanding manner; use good judgment.
