    COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

    REPORTS TO: Technology Coordinator

    QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

    1. High school diploma. A+ Certification, networking, and other technical certifications preferred.

    2. Experience providing computer hardware and software maintenance, repair and support.

    3. Knowledge of PC and Macintosh hardware, memory installation, batteries, power supplies, motherboards, expansion cards, UTP wiring and termination, Mac OS, and Windows OS.

    LOCATION:
    RSU 57 Elementary School coverage.

    WORK YEAR:

    Full Year – Hourly pay

    JOB GOALS:

    To support in the operation of the District information systems by installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer hardware, software, and data communications equipment, and supporting end users in the use of such equipment.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Installs and configures new systems.

    2. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs computer and telecommunications equipment.

    3. Provides hardware maintenance and repair.

    4. Maintains an accurate inventory of all systems.

    5. Performs routine computer services, data entry, and backups.

    6. Makes equipment and repair recommendations based on repair experience.

    7. Moves equipment to and from sites.

    8. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

    9. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    10. Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and employees of the District by phone and in person. Effective communication must include individual and small group communication.

    11. Ability to make minor computer repairs, such as replacing and upgrading internal components and installing software.

    12. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    13. Ability to work in a friendly manner and to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the public.

    14. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements, Board of Education policies, and applicable laws.

    15. Performance of such related duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time.

    The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, climb stairs, lift (ranging from 25-75 lbs depending on student size), bend, pull, push, walk, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical tasks that may be required from time to time.
