Job description
- Plans, conducts, and evaluates employee training programs.
- Direct and supervise the SCDCTA sergeants and any uniformed/non-uniformed staff housed at the academy or those attending basic training.
- Performs duties of EHSO to include conducts monthly emergency drills; oversee TA.
- Inspection program and fire suppression program; maintains control of inventories and storage of all hazardous material; monitors and chairs Ta's safety committee.
- Also, performs duties of t/a security supervisor to include supervision of inmates; monitor/maintain academy general maintenance program and academy vehicles; maintain control, accessibility, and inventories of keys, tools, and security equipment.
- Maintain applicable aca and ta sop files.
- Coordinate with the instructors/branch chiefs on student issues and any matters that arise with the daily operation of the training academy.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and supervisory experience in Correctional, Security or Police work.
A Bachelor's degree in Human Services or Criminal Justice field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
High school and (1) one year training or teaching experience and six (6) months supervisory experience.
A degree may be substituted for the teaching or training experience.
Must successfully complete correctional officer basic certification and basic supervisory within six (6) months of entry into the position.
Must also complete the following T4T's, staff trainer, firearms, defensive tactics and AHSI first aid/CPR, less lethal munitions, defensive driving, and Emergency preparedness (EPT).
