Pinpoint Precision Engineering is seeking a dynamic Traffic Engineer for our Chicago office to work on intermodal projects that require precise engineering judgment, independent evaluation, successful adaption of industry standards and procedures, and developing solutions with the project team and clients.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related;
  • EIT or P.E. a plus.
  • IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities (DOCQ) Certification.
  • 5 years related experience.
  • Self-Motivated and Ambitious, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of IDOT BDE, Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, and other manuals relative to this role.
  • Knowledge of State, Municipal, CTA, and Metra systems and operations.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, GeoPAK, HCS, Synchro, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Projectwise, and BlueBeam. Knowledge of Open Roads Designer is a plus.
  • Fluent with computer software including Microsoft Office.
Technical Skills Requirements:
  • Apply current engineering principles and theories, design specifications, and federal, state, and local design standards to develop plan sets and specifications for roadway projects.
  • Prepare and review plans, making decisions regarding layouts, alignments, deviations from standard design, specification writing, quantity calculations, ROW acquisitions.
  • Perform computer-aided drafting and modeling for conceptual through final design preparation to be assembled for PS&E submittal.
  • Ability to read plans and understand standard specifications for road and bridge construction book.
  • Experience with Traffic signal modifications, Traffic Operation Analysis, Operational Effects of Geometric Designs, Traffic Safety, Traffic Control Devices, Traffic Engineering Studies.
  • Signal Coordination and Timing Projects (SCAT)
  • ADA Sidewalk Designs and Compliance
  • Maintenance of Traffic concept and layouts
  • Technical Writing
  • Drainage Designs a plus but not required
