As the Switching Manager you will be responsible for the on-time release of trains and timely grounding of containers & trailers. Switching Managers lead the switching workforce and assist with the ramp workforce to meet customer needs and profitability goals.
Switching Manager
- Oversight of the switching operation; safety, administration, maintenance & productivity
- Assists with the training & orientation of all conductor/engineers and managers
- Ensures employees have the knowledge, skills & ability to perform assigned tasks
- Responsible for problem solving with local railroad officers
- Responsible for the staffing of all switching employees
- Enforces & upholds all rules, regulations and policies
- Issues disciplinary actions
- Creates & reviews weekly schedule & ensures customer/operational needs are met
- Assist with scheduling and record keeping of all track inspections
- Knowledgeable with (Qualification and Certification of Conductors/Engineers)
Qualifications:
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years railroad experience
- Minimum 3 years of Engineer experience is preferred, not required
- 3 years of experience as a railroad operating officer is preferred, not required
- Operational testing experience is preferred, not required
- Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Web Based Data systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Work Ethic
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Open availability
