Job description
This position supports the SWS Program Office in support of test engineering support for COLUMBIA construction, test, and integration of Strategic Weapons System (SWS) equipment in Groton, CT.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop reports and track metrics that support installation SWS/SWSS Installation and Test
- Create presentations that outline various process and procedures that will be presented to various stakeholders to include Ship’s Management, Government, Engineering, Ship’s Force, and Operations.
- Utilize Change Requests and Change Notices (CR/CN) to identify, initiate, and mange change to SWS Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and Government Furnished Information (GFI) including Installation and Construction materials.
- Coordinating with operations and planning personnel to ensure proper engineering support for execution of construction and installation activities associated with the SWS and the Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS) equipment.
- Coordinate with Groton/New London engineering and design personnel to support timely resolution of issues identified during SWSS construction, SWS GFE integration and/or conduct of SWS Test and Installation Procedures.
- Coordination of SWS Contractor support for SWS equipment installation and test
- Work with Ship’s Management and Operations Management to improve schedule and make positive improvements to construction and test schedule of the SWS.
- Strong desire to learn and mentor other engineers and other organizations outside of the SWS Program Office.
- Both electrical and mechanical focused skill sets are highly encouraged to apply.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Work travel will be required
- 5+ years SWS experience or submarine operational and/or submarine test experience
- Teamcenter expertise
- Working knowledge of existing EB policies and procedures for construction and test
- System engineering capabilities
- Self-Starter
- Good communication (written and oral) and organizational skills are required
- Candidate must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
