Location: Castro Valley and surrounding area

Shifts: day

Salary: $23.20-$28.48 DOE

Medical benefits eligible first of the month following 28 days of employment. All other benefits eligible first of the month following 90 days of employment.

Position Summary: The Service Technician is responsible for installation, service, and repair of cold and hot beverage equipment, icemakers, walk in coolers/freezers and other equipment in the commercial industry. The position is also responsible for some repair of equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible at all times.

· Demonstrate basic troubleshooting and mechanical ability.

· Follow direction and instruction of Supervisors.

· Install and repair hot and cold beverage equipment.

· Perform warehouse work as assigned.

· Order, ship and receive parts as needed and properly complete paperwork as it pertains to installation and repair equipment.

· Handle basic plumbing and electrical hook-ups as necessary.

· Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.

· Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.

· Removes and replaces worn or defective parts.

· Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.

· Knowledge of associated tools and readings, connections for convenient store equipment.

· Deliver parts or equipment as needed.

· Perform basic electrical work.

· Perform basic plumbing.

· Perform basic refrigeration to include basic connecting & reading of gauges, Type 1, theory principles.

· Perform basic troubleshooting ,diagnosing & assessing, determine if basic functions and input sources are present.

· On call rotation required after Technician is deemed qualified.

· General

· Maintain a positive work atmosphere and interaction with customers, co-workers, and management.

· All other duties as assigned.

· Regular and punctual attendance.

· Work scheduled shift, weekends, and extended hours as required.

· Obtain EPA Certification Type 1.

· Understand basic theory and operation of ice, post mix FCB (frozen carbonated beverage).

· Perform basic welding to include brazing and soldering.

· Obtain EPA Certification Type 2.

· Perform intermediate electrical work.

· Perform intermediate refrigeration work to include Type 2, recovery / reclaiming & charging systems, brazing soldering, compressor & component replacements.

· Install diagnose and repair beverage equipment and products as needed.

· Install and repair hot and cold beverage equipment and ice making equipment.

· Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.

· Understand and perform pressures diagnostics, charging, superheat.

· Read diagrams / schematics.

· Perform intermediate plumbing to include soldering, hard piping, components, supply shut off and star up single piece.

· Obtain EPA Universal Certification.

· Install, repair and maintain refrigeration and food service equipment to include walk-in boxes, under counter units, reach-ins and ice making equipment.

· Handle plumbing and electrical hook-ups as necessary.

· Perform advance electrical work to include circuit sizing and phases.

· Perform advance plumbing to include demo existing, relocation, run new supply, supply shut off & start up main supply.

· Perform advanced refrigeration work to include electronic controls, Installations & system sizing, universal, complete system, and associated component replacements.

· Perform advanced troubleshooting.

· Run jobs.

· Ability to run a project from start to finish.

· Strong ability to work unsupervised.

· Assist with training Service Technicians.

Education and/or Experience:

· One year certificate from college or technical school required.

· Three months related experience and/or training required

· Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Valid California Driver’s License required.

Language Skills: English is required, and the ability to speak Spanish is desirable.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Amount of Travel Involved: Up to 95%.
