Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is looking to hire a Security Architect for a full-time position with its IT Services Division.

The incumbent in this position, will be responsible for designing and engineering secure solutions across complex enterprise environments; establish an architecture program to protect the value of the systems and information assets of the enterprise from both external and internal threats. The incumbent will ensure all system architecture deployments are designed by clearly understood policies and tested for compliance and weaknesses on routine basis. They will be the go-to person for the implementation of all technical controls on all IT projects.

The Security Architect, along with the others supporting Security Operations and IT Risk Management will work collaboratively on every aspect of Information Security. Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience providing technical direction and assistance to technology staff related to security features and requirements.
  • In-depth understanding and experience supporting the security hardening requirements, both technical and procedural.
  • Extensive knowledge of security scanning techniques, vulnerability, and penetration testing processes.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing and evaluating security solutions/components for business requirements.
  • Considerable knowledge of cloud platforms and their attack surfaces.
  • Extensive knowledge of security hardening techniques for Microsoft OS, Unix, and Linux.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CRTSA certification.
  • Experience in monitoring and protecting the attack surfaces as they relate to harden system security controls.
  • Experience with IT governance, policies, controls, and compliance.
