Moving Everest is hiring a School Social Worker

The mission of Moving Everest Charter School is to create a school that dramatically transforms the lives of K-8 students and prepares them for success in college and in life through: the delivery of a rigorous and personalized academic program, a focus on holistic education and the development of strong character.

School Social Worker Job Description

Direct service:

  • Manage student crises including those involving DCFS and SASS. This includes post-crisis follow up, tracking of crises and acting as a liaison with outside providers
  • Provide direct counseling/social work services to students one-on-one and in groups.
  • Meet with parents to provide resources on parenting, outside services, etc.
  • Observe students in the classroom and consult with teachers on concerns
  • Collaborate, troubleshoot and communicate with students, parents/guardians, school leaders, and community stakeholders
  • Attend discipline meetings for students with multiple behavior concerns
  • Manage outside social service providers that come to Moving Everest to provide services to scholars including those provided by the By the Hand Social Worker during school hours
  • Consult with after school partner By the Hand staff on student concerns with consideration for applicable mental health confidentiality law

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS):

  • Collaborate with teachers, MTSS team, and administration on Multi-Tier System of Supports for students who need intensive behavioral supports
  • Develop, monitor and implement tier 2 and 3 interventions with MTSS team support and input

Other:

  • Recruit, train and supervise student intern, when applicable
  • Attend OSEL meetings, relevant professional development, maintain social work licensure
  • Coordinate programs with outside providers

Requirements

  • Passion for working with young children.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, highly demanding environment.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Experience

  • Minimum of a college degree required.
  • Type 73 license required
  • MSW required
