Job Description
At LCLC, we are transforming the criminal legal system with our holistic, community-based programs rooted in restorative practices. A key part of fulfilling this mission is using data to improve the services we provide and to tell the story of the impact of our work. We’re looking for a Program Evaluator with a passion for justice, the ability to manage and analyze data, and the interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders inside and outside the organization. In joining our data team of experienced researchers and analysts, the candidate will have minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in program evaluation or a similar position and must have experience with Excel, MySQL (or other relational database) and statistical programs (R, Stata, etc.) with coding experience preferred but not required (e.g., Python).
Responsibilities
- Assist in administering the Randomized Controlled Trial in which LCLC is participating. This includes organizing client/participant information, communicating with the research lab conducting the study, communicating with participants and staff, training LCLC staff to carry out the RCT, and producing reports for the RCT.
- Data Management
- Manage and prepare data for analysis using Excel, MySQL, Python, and other programs
- Conduct quality assurance checks through regular data audits to ensure data entry by program staff
- Train program staff on use of case management system and provide technical support to program staff to ensure that data is entered into the system properly
- Assist in improving and updating LCLC’s case management system/database
- Evaluation
- Analyze client data using programs such as Excel, R, Python, and MySQL in order to determine program effectiveness, client progress, and LCLC’s impact
- Collaborate with program staff to develop measures and metrics used for program evaluation
- Assist in getting client feedback about the services they have received and collaborate with program staff in using this data to improve services
- Reporting and Presentations
- Produce data for funder applications and funder reports
- Work with Research and Evaluation Director to produce internal reports for supervisors, directors, the executive team, and the board of directors on programs and client progress
- Create inspiring, accurate, and thorough grant reports, annual reports and other reports that document LCLC’s work
- Assist in writing evaluation sections of grant proposals
- Maintain and develop relationships with key community stakeholders and partners
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public Policy, or a related field
- Minimum 1-2 year of experience working with large data sets
- Experience using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R)
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)
- Experience with Python preferred
- Passion for social justice, particularly as related to the criminal justice system; knowledge of criminal justice, violence prevention, and root causes of violence preferred
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse staff, clients, and community partners.
- Ability to work in teams and independently
- Commitment to ensuring that evaluation activities are done in a culturally competent manner
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Superior communication skills (written and oral)
