Job description
The focus of this role is to spearhead the production of our holistic food + herbal goods. This intentionally alleviates our founder + herbalist, Petals, from being the sole producer, allowing our 2.5 year old business to grow and flourish. The Production Assistant will work 2-3 days/week (approximately 14 -16 hours/wk) and is able to enjoy a flexible schedule with varied tasks that keep each week a little different than the last.
Location: Our Kitchen is located in Clayton, GA and our Homestead is located in Clarkesville, GA.
Duties and responsibilities:
-In our Commercial Kitchen making Bone Broths, Spice Blends and Herbal Beverages + bottling of pre-blended Herbal Extracts
-Organization + inventory of kitchen ingredients, materials + ready to sell products
-Labeling + prepping all jars/bottles
-Option to work on the homestead/farm tending gardens, growing herbs + spices for our products 1-3 days/month depending on the season
Qualifications:
Must have professional or personal experience with physical labor, organizational skills and comfort working with food. A qualified applicant will be someone with thoughtful, clear communication who is both a great team player and also takes leadership and initiative in their own role. They must have integrity, reliability and maturity.
Our Production Assistant must be a problem solver with a can-do attitude who is passionate about being a positive force in our mission as a Holistic Wellness company. They should be well organized, able to work independently and able to maintain efficient work day to day with an eye for detail and quality. We’d love to have our Production Assistant grow along with us; as new small business, we are growing each year and looking for solid, long term team members!
Applicants with previous experience or a passion in herbalism, farming/gardening or other health and wellness applications are desired but not strictly required.
Working conditions + Physical Requirements:
During production days, you will be indoors in our temperature controlled Commercial Kitchen. You will be required to lift heavy items and handle equipment responsibly. You will be working with hot broth, valuable bulk products and sharp kitchen knives, so you must be confident working with your hands and maintaining a steady pace and concentration to ensure safety for yourself and our products.
If you choose to opt in to spend some work days on the farm, it requires physical labor including but not limited to digging, harvesting, weeding, processing herbs. You will be working outdoors, but we will schedule strategically to avoid working in extremely hot or cold weather.
During Kitchen Production + Farm Work, some days you will be working independently and others you’ll be working alongside Petals.

Scheduling:
We aim to be flexible enough to accommodate your personal and professional needs and desires, so we are happy to work with you to schedule 2-3 set days per week that fit your schedule (you could choose to work 2 full days or 3 shorter days). One of your primary roles will be to head up the Bone Broth production, which has a 48 hr simmer time, so the two broth production days must be 1 day apart from each other (ex: Monday + Wednesday or Friday + Sunday).
Compensation:
Starting hourly rate as a 1099 employee: $15/hr
After the initial 3 month traineeship period, you will be offered a $1 hourly rate increase to $16/hr. Another Performance Review will be conducted between months 6-12.
