Introduction


The Department of Health Services (DHS), Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) is recruiting to fill a Plumber in Mauston, WI. This position works 6:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday.

SRSTC opened in 2001 and houses Wisconsin's Sexually Violent Persons Program. The goal of the center is treating and teaching patients with a history of sexual aggression toward the goal of providing a safe return to the community. SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). DCTS is committed to helping all state residents live their best lives through an interconnected web of behavioral health services. Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.

Position Summary


This position performs duties as a skilled plumber, utilizing the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the plumbing trades. The Plumber inspects, repairs, and maintains all plumbing and related mechanical operations, including heating, ventilating, and distribution systems in accordance with the provisions of the plumbing codes, pertinent plans, and specifications or job orders.

Salary Information


The starting salary is between $41.65 and $42.98 per hour, depending upon leave time selected, plus excellent benefits. This position is represented by the WI State Building Trades bargaining unit.

A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details


All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing up and down and working on ladders, and physical strength and stamina to work overhead, to bend twist, crawl and work on feet for sustained periods Applicants will be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants must possess and maintain or be eligible* to obtain licensure as a Journeyman or Master Plumber by Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).

  • Eligible is defined as holding licensure in another state and eligible to obtain WI licensure prior to appointment.

In addition, well-qualified applicants will be registered or have the ability to be registered by the Wisconsin DSPS in Cross Connection and Control. Registration must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
