Phlebotomist – Part-time, Morning shift
MHS Labs is a high-complexity clinical and molecular laboratory located in Monroeville, PA. We are currently seeking an experienced, customer-focused phlebotomist to join our team for specimen collections. This position is a mobile phlebotomy position and will require the phlebotomist to utilize their personal vehicle for specimen collection and transport from the client location to our laboratory in Monroeville. Candidate must be able to work the following shift:
Morning Shift: 4am-9:30am (this is slightly flexible)
The candidate must be able to provide weekend and holiday coverage (rotating).
Candidates must possess the following:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certificate or Diploma from an accredited Phlebotomy Training Program or Medical Assistant Program
- Covid-19 Vaccination
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ phlebotomy experience required.
- Prior phlebotomy experience in an inpatient hospital setting and/or nursing home facility is preferred.
- Medical Terminology and Laboratory Information System experience preferred.
All hires are subject to background checks and random drug screens.
Job Responsibilities:
- Requires positive and professional interaction with patients, clients, providers and other MHS Team Members at all times.
- Collect & process patient specimens in accordance with MHS laboratory policies and procedures, including but not limited to: routine venipuncture, blood culture collection, Covid-19/Respiratory PCR sample collection, throat cultures (Group A Strep) and urinalysis.
- Requires utilization of personal vehicle to travel to patients at facilities such as skilled nursing centers, personal care homes and assisted living centers and transport samples back to MHS Labs. Requires candidate to be comfortable driving in inclement weather conditions.
- Follows proper patient identification procedures as described in the laboratory standard operating policies. Properly collects, processes, stores and transports patient samples (blood and non-blood specimens) to the laboratory.
- Perform support duties such as patient registration, order entry, specimen receiving, or other tasks as assigned or required.
- Maintains high quality standards as determined by MHS Labs, CLIA and CAP.
- Demonstrates dependability and reliability as an MHS Team Member.
- Possesses critical thinking skills and can function both independently and as part of a team.
- Responsible for properly maintaining collection equipment, including appropriate organization and cleanliness of supplies.
- Basic computer skills are required.
