The role you’ll contribute:
Pathologist Assistant receives, examines and takes sections of all tissue specimens received in the pathology department and may also accession cases.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Properly identifies, processes, and prepares tissue specimens for gross examination
- Performs gross examinations and take sections for histology under the supervision of a pathologist
- Determines identity and suitability of specimens when received, according to procedure manual, as documented on requisition 100% of the time
- Immediately prepares sections and may stain frozen section specimens according to stated procedure, as observed by the pathologist
- Takes and identifies macro and microscopic photographs of specimens as directed by pathologist
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field
- ASCP Specialist Certification in Pathologists' Assistant
- One year of experience required
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific field
- Two years Laboratory Support experience
