Job Description

This position (exempt) is housed in the Workforce Funding office and provides direct services to students regarding intake and first-quarter registration processes, connects students to on-and off campus resources and services and provides information to optimize student success. Supports student transitions between programs and facilitates co-enrollment among programs to maximize funding and retention.

This position also participates in outreach and recruiting events representing the workforce funding programs of Worker Retraining, WorkFirst, BFET & Opportunity Grant.

This position reports to the Director of Workforce Funding. Responsibilities include engaging with current and prospective workforce students and providing comprehensive services that encourage students to persist in reaching their educational goals. It is part of a team that is responsible for maintaining student records and reporting program data/outcomes according to grant guidelines.

As a member of the team, this position works to ensure program compliance, identify and implement program improvements, and assist in writing program grants and reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with Worker Retraining, WorkFirst, BFET and Opportunity Grant staff coordinate, facilitate and evaluate all aspects of the intake process, including determining eligibility for workforce funding programs, providing program information to current and prospective students, consisting of (but not limited to) overview and expectations, educational planning and goal setting.
  • Facilitate and support co-enrollment of students in all funding programs for which they are determined eligible.
  • Review documents, records, and applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with program policies.
  • Assists in planning, writing, and implementing grants and reports.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating application and intake procedures.
  • Assist in developing systems and implementing procedures to track student success and retention goals.
  • Function as point-of-contact for workforce funding programs by responding to routine inquiries, and addressing student needs in person, by phone, and by email.
  • Facilitate smooth transitioning of students between funding programs.
  • Help students access support resources and services both on and off campus, including through WIOA partners. Work with other areas on campus in an effort to secure resources for program students.
  • Participate in SBCTC trainings/quarterly meetings to stay informed on program requirements and potential changes.
  • Provide job search assistance/referrals & resume help to graduating program students. Keep informed on local job market and maintain job postings in Worker Retraining office.
  • Attend local business and agency meetings related to services for workforce funding students.
  • Build and maintain connections with resources in the community that may benefit students.
  • Help direct student workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of related experience and/or education
  • Availability for in-state travel for trainings and meetings

  • Experience working with people from academically, culturally, and economically diverse backgrounds

  • Superior technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and database programs

  • Strong planning and project management ability

  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting, reviewing and applying program specific policies, procedures and regulations

Conditions of Employment

This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time non-administrative professional exempt position. The salary is $45,000 - $46,793 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the TIAA/CREF retirement system.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $45,000 - $46,793 (DOQ/DOE)
