Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Facilities and Site Services (F&SS) Mechanical group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Mechanic.

Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our sitewide facilities with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform mechanical maintenance duties on facilities and equipment at INL.
  • Display broad knowledge and ability to install and maintain a vast array of mechanical systems including, but not limited to, HVAC systems, pumps, compressors, internal combustion engines, fabrication equipment, hydraulic systems, overhead door mechanisms, overhead cranes, hoists, belt and coupling alignment, fans, and blowers.
  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and components
  • Work to drawings, schematics, and work specifications to produce successful outcomes.
  • Be attentive and responsive to the needs of all employees.
  • Instruct others, when called upon, in all phases of work.
  • Read and understand technical and industrial signs, manuals, and labels.
  • Maintain information on time sheets and other records.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Participate in work planning walk downs and work-hour estimating.
  • Perform on-the-job training (OJT) for other craftspeople, as required.
  • Participate in maintenance assessments as required.
  • Perform material procurement duties as required.
  • Perform work to proper work control and clearly document and record work that performed.
  • Perform facility/component corrective and preventive maintenance activities in the most safe and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, vendors, planners, support staff, and management.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment on mechanical systems to install, maintain, and ensure systems run efficiently.
  • Mentor, coach, and support development of staff in preference and craft helper program.
  • Requisition and obtain spare parts. Obtain and use drawings, blueprints, schematics, and vendor data.
  • Maintain all training and qualifications (Individual Training Plan and Job Function Requirements).

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and 5 years of related work experience, a recognized mechanical trade apprenticeship plus 2 years of related work experience, or a relevant 2-year vocational training program and 3 years of related experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information

  • Salary: $41.85/hour (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
