GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Manufacturing Engineering Technician job duties will consist of robot programming to include working to write, test, and modify programs that direct the actions of robotic and fab equipment. As a robotic/CNC programmer, responsibilities typically consist of using robotic software to create directions for manufacturing or industrial applications.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with gathering data for identifying root cause for welding issues in the departments supported
  • Establish routings, layouts, weld tooling, weldments costs, and control plans for revisions to current operations and/or running changes for current product
  • Generate cut lists, and material nests using production control software
  • Create CNC programs from NC1 files using plate nesting software
  • Compares programs to shop drawings to verify accuracy of instructions
  • Work with electronic tools to perform engineering functions
  • Self-motivator with the ability to execute a variety of tasks
  • Read shop drawings to prepare part information for efficient fabrication
  • Maintain established Procedures & Process Changes
  • Process engineering changes on the shop floor along with writing work instructions and training the operators
  • Work with appropriate departments during prototype and pilot builds to determine if product or component meets process and design specifications
  • Program equipment (laser, press brake, machining centers, robots, etc.) to improve cycle time and cost as well as for engineering changes
  • Troubleshoot equipment and programs as required by the operation
  • Train operators on operating equipment associated with changes in process, tools, and the design of the manufacturing process and product
  • Other duties as determined by the Production Supervisor/Production Manager

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)

EXPERTISE:

  • Knowledge and/or experience in programming and troubleshooting robotic welding and CNC program application in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities
  • Knowledge of engineering tools, systems and databases
  • Strong applied mechanical skills and willingness to use them:
  • CNC Knowledge
    • Robotic Welding Programmer
    • Press Brake Programmer
    • Laser Programming
    • Sheet Metal Fabrication
    • Mechanical Design
  • Computer skills knowledge with Excel, Word, and Google.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate degree or a 4-year college degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering (required)

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This position is located in Yankton, SD
  • Travel is not required for this position.
