    The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has an opening for a secondary learning support teacher at our TCHS Pickering Campus in Phoenixville, PA.

    The CCIU is currently offering a sign on bonus of up to $1,500 for candidates who apply and are subsequently hired for a position between March 16, 2023, and October 31, 2023. More information will be shared with eligible individuals at the time of hire.

    Quick Facts:
    Location: TCHS Pickering at 1580 Charlestown Road in Phoenixville, PA
    Benefits Eligible: Yes (see attached)
    Anticipated start date: 8/15/2023
    Schedule: 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day. 194 days per year for new professional employees/191 days for professional staff in year two/190 days in all subsequent years
    Exempt Status: Exempt
    Salaried or Hourly: Salaried
    Remote Work Available: Not at this time

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors level degree in education required
    • Valid PA Special Education Certificate (7-12 or N-12) required
    • Experience teaching mathematics preferred
    • Experience with secondary students preferred
    • Three to five years teaching experience preferred
    • Experience working with children and adolescents with severe and complex behavior challenges in school, community, or residential setting preferred
    • Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances required (conducted by the CCIU upon hire)

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill and subject area
    • Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods
    • Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior
    • Support objectives and interventions of the educational program
    • Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom
    • Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress
    • When appropriate, develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students
    • Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required
    • Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students

    Salary 2022-2023 School Year:
    • $53,640 to $85,674 - Instructional I Certification
    • $55,980 to $89,105 - Instructional II Certification
    • $59,552 to $97,305 - Master's Degree
    • $63,492 to $102,970 - Master's + 30
    • Placement on the salary scale is determined by previous experience. Salary is pro-rated for days worked in the school year.
