Why does the job exist?
This position serves as Human Resource Generalist under the direction of the Human Resources Bureau for the General Services Department. The Human Resource Generalist responsibilities include a wide variety of human resource functions including recruitment, classification and compensation analysis, job analysis, and may assist with Labor Relations activities. The position performs difficult and advanced journey level professional, administrative, analytical, and coordination duties in support of human resources functions and programs including recruitment, selection, evaluation, classification, compensation, benefits and to oversee and coordinate assigned administrative processes, procedures, and programs. Work in this position requires the demonstration of continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The key responsibilities include overseeing human resources functions and programs which includes, recruitment, selection, evaluation, classification, benefits, and compensation. The position is responsible for coordinating the recruitment process including screening employment applications; ensuring applicants meet or exceed minimum qualifications; rank candidates according to qualifications. The positions compile and analyze data and make recommendations regarding human resources programs and systems; assist in the development and implementation of related policies.

This position supports all GSD program staff, as well as HRB Bureau Chief.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this job has experience with review and analyzing problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of human resources goals. Plan, organize, and carry out assignments from management staff with minimal supervision and direction and effectively administer a variety of human resources programs, functions, and administrative activities
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any field and one (1) year of experience in human resource operations; recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation and benefits administration, labor relations, investigations, HR related training experience and/or occupational analysis. Substitutions apply.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some standing, bending and reaching may be required.
