Job Description
The Program Manager is responsible for managing projects and programs that help Global accounts and the Global Industry Group drive adoption of Rockwell Automation’s products & services. The Program Manager is responsible for understanding and managing expectations of internal & external stakeholders to achieve project success and strengthen Rockwell’s partnership with assigned accounts and their overall supply chain and partner eco-system.
The Program Manager will demonstrate exceptional knowledge of applications and market trends specifically in the Life Science Industry. The candidate should have measurable project management skills, have a working knowledge of Rockwell Automation products as they are applied in Life Sciences including machine, process design and commissioning experience while maintaining exceptional professional standards of integrity, efficiency, and competency for the purpose of growing Rockwell Automation’s market share in this industry.
Essential Functions:
- Manage all aspects of the project from Engagement, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Controlling to Closing.
- Strong communication skills; Written/Oral/Presentation.
- Good customer facing skills at different levels of the organization
- Ability to work and collaborate with individuals at various levels within an organization in a fast paced team environment.
- Ability to influence members not under direct control.
- Identification and mitigation of commercial & technical risks.
- Lead & coach remote and diverse global teams.
- Efficiently manage indirect global and geographic resources on program related activities with defined project objectives including coordinating with the OEM sales teams.
- Efficiently manage and coordinate program related activities of TC’s (Technical Consultants) and technical defined project objectives.
- Provide input into delivery teams on optimizing project best practices to meet the needs of Life Sciences customers thus positioning RA to increase market share.
- Understand machine and process design, machine control and be able to coordinate control architecture from component level of products to architecture level of products.
- Application of Globally accepted Project Management processes.
- Manage any financial activities associated with the project.
- Facilitate and document meetings both internally with the Global Account (GA) and Strategic Account (SA) sales teams
- Work with the EA and SA teams to develop opportunity pursuit plans,
- Ability to travel and work at customer sites for onsite project initiation and execution– (Approx. 20%)
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to travel 20% and work at customer sites for onsite project initiation and execution
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years related Project Manager experience with recognized technical expertise, in managing projects related to applying automation, and/or information solutions, for consumer industry clients, with strong application knowledge and demonstrated program management skills.
- Prior Project Management experience, ideally with Rockwell Automation to understand all aspects of cost estimation, proposal development, organizational structure, and project delivery.
- Project Management experience in a technical role in a Life Sciences GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment.
- This position requires a good understanding of the Rockwell Automation organization from distribution and sales to the product & services businesses. Strong industry and application knowledge and demonstrated project management skills are required.
- The successful candidate must have proven commercial awareness and understanding about interfacing with End User and OEM customers. Position does require global travel. Actual global travel will depend on business conditions and project activity loading.
- Basic knowledge of Rockwell Automation core products: Logix Processors, Motion Control, Drives, Operator Interface, Communications, I/O, IoT and MES level systems and software.
- Controls, Process design or Mechanical Engineering experience on OEM equipment is desired.
- Solution design experience from conception to commissioning.
- Demonstrates commercial experience and aptitude working directly with End User, OEM, and Channel Customers.
- Strong industry and application knowledge and demonstrated project management skills.
- Familiarity with the following: Biotech, API, BMS, QBMS, EMS, FDA, IQ, OQ, PQ, Validation, EBR, MES, DCS, Batch Control, SCADA, PLC, MCC, Ethernet Networking, Cyber Security, Asset Management, Historian, MPC, Reporting, SQL.
- Practical understanding of relevant standards including GAMP 5, ISA-88, ISA-101, ISA-18.2, FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and Annex 11 (Data Integrity).
- Industry domain knowledge around smart machine concepts (Industry 4.0, IIoT) in Consumer Industries and understanding of the Rockwell Automation Connected Enterprise strategy.
- Knowledge and experience in delivery of Industrial IoT digital transformation, MES, and software solutions.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or formal training in Project Management is desirable.
