The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic supports general operation, inspection, and building maintenance. This includes HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, systems in assigned facilities. Assists site Operations Manager and other mechanics in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks. Performs inspections and repairs to interior and exterior areas, including walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, furniture, etc.
What is your day to day?
- Completing preventive maintenance, tours, and repair work orders in mixed lab and office facility.
- Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
- General repair and maintenance of building mechanical systems. HVAC including, Pumps, Motors, Chillers, AHUs, RTUS, Fan coils, Boilers and HHW systems.
- General repair and maintenance of Fume Hoods, Bio Safety Cabinets, Vacuum pumps and compressors, generators, pumps, exhaust system, and HVAC systems.
- General repair and maintenance of Electrical systems, including, UPS, Generators, lighting controls, etc.
- General interior maintenance and lite carpentry tasks.
- Basic plumbing skills, sink, faucet, toilet repair, etc.
- Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment and/or as directed.
- Replace lighting and ballasts.
- Clean HVAC coils, change filters and belts.
- Eager to learn from the existing team as well as bring personal experience to the group. Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary.
- Understand and follow PPE requirements and signage.
- Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work. areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
- Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
- Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled.
- Practice Defensive Driving at all times.
- Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Ability to navigate the web-based work order system to update and close out Work Orders in a timely manner.
- Perform Vehicle and equipment Safety Inspections.
- Escalating problems or issues to Customer and Manager in a timely manner.
- Attend work and safety meetings as required.
Work Schedule
- First shift on-site position (Flexible Start Time)
- Rotating On Call Availability Required
Desired experience and technical skills
Required
- Ability to navigate the web-based work order system to update and close out Work Orders in a timely manner.
- Comfortable using Outlook mail and calendar as well as Microsoft word and Excel.
- High school diploma or equivalent Years of relevant experience.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Strong Customer Service skills.
- Strong Interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of Good Documentation Practices.
- Lifting up to 80 lbs.
- Working from heights.
- Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
- Working in adverse conditions.
- Climbing a ladder with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag.
- Legible handwriting.
Preferred
- Have a minimum of 5 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Previous experience working in life sciences GxP environment desired.
- General knowledge of building mechanical systems. HVAC including, Pumps, Motors, Chillers, AHUs, RTUS, Fan coils, Boilers and HHW systems.
- General knowledge of Fume Hoods, Bio Safety Cabinets, Vacuum pumps and compressors, generators, pumps, exhaust system, and HVAC systems.
- Understanding of basic Electrical systems, including, UPS, Generators, lighting controls, etc.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to be able to provide proof of such vaccination prior to entering the work site. The CDC defines fully vaccinated as receiving two (2) doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one (1) dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and 2 weeks have passed from the date of your final vaccination shot.
Estimated compensation for this position is:
56,160.00 – 66,560.00 USD
