Job Summary
Performs basic and complex EEGs on patients with possible brain dysfunction; performs portable EEG’s; performs EEG intra-operatively; transports patients when needed; has working knowledge of computer for ordering and charging; receives patients into department; maintains all equipment in proper working order; formats disks, and archives EEG data for record management by policy; performs clerical functions as needed; maintains adequate inventory of supplies/linen; participates in orientation of new employees; participates in continuing education and participates in the on-call schedule.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1.Perform all EEG studies in accordance to the guidelines approved by the American Society of Neurodiagnostic Technicians.
2.Prepare and maintain equipment for studies.
3.Prepare patient for studies including technical prep and patient education.
4.Coordinate patient transportation through Patient Tracking system.
5.Manage paperwork involved with studies; maintain patient logs.
6.Assist all patients and physicians when needed within the department.
7.Report equipment needs, including equipment malfunctions, trouble shoots when necessary. Assist with daily maintenance of equipment.
8.Serve as a technical resource for patients, physicians, and staff.
9.Format disks, make back-up copy of digital EEG patient studies, and archive digital EEG’s.
10.Follow hospital and department policies and procedures.
11.Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
- At least one year experience in the medical field.
- One year as an EEG tech preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must maintain certification in Basic Life Support.
