Lead Dispatcher

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for direct day-to-day communications and interactions with Paratransit Operators and clients. Coordinates and directs the movement of vehicles for Paratransit services. Tracks and records arrival times for both pickups and drop-offs, assure routes are timely, and communicates Paratransit services issues to management as appropriate. Assist Operations Manger in providing day-to-day supervisions of Dispatcher and Assistant Dispatchers. Ensuring that key performance indicators are met. Exercise good judgement, makes decisions within the limits of established policies, procedures and guidelines and provide excellent customer services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist Operations Manager in day-to-day activities.
  • Ensure Dispatchers and Assistant dispatchers are preforming their duties as expected.
  • Takes Paratransit clients calls and communicates issues with Paratransit Operators and management or Dispatch.
  • Monitor radios, telephones, and on-road provision of service to ensure quality.
  • Monitor service to ensure it meets the parameters set forth in the American with Disabilities Act. (ADA)
  • Monitor daily system performance
  • Analyze and adjust computer dispatch schedules for conditions affecting passenger services.
  • Maintain two-way communication with operators, providing information on customers, cancellations , and directional assistance where necessary.
  • Provide appropriate troubleshooting information to field personnel so that service to the public is maintained with minimum of delay and inconvenience.
  • Participates in analysis and review of Paratransit operating performance.
  • Notes closed and /or late starting routes and communicates same to management as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent,

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of dispatch experience
  • 4+ years of customer service experience
  • Experience working in a call center, or high call volume environment
  • Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) in English is required, bilingual in Spanish & Creole is a plus
  • High School Diploma is required; some college preferred
  • Experience using routing & scheduling software, GPS tracking and other general technology skills are required.

Knowledge, Skills, &Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language clearly
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback on performance and skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and Holidays.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Assimilate information quickly and accurately.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Work primarily involves an office environment.
  • May be required to work added hours or weekends if specific tasks demand.
  • Must keep Operations Manager inform of all changes, activities, schedule of drivers and vehicles always.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language. This may include daily logs and reports
  • Basic computer skills are needed
