Position responsibilities:
This is a ten and one-half-month faculty position. Employment will begin August, 2023. Program Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinates a plan that ensures program effectiveness and program-specific accreditations
- Coordinates textbook selections, syllabi revisions, and curriculum revisions;
- Facilitates development of departmental budget(s);
- Coordinates the maintenance of property entrusted to the program;
- Interviews, recommends, orients, and evaluates faculty in the program;
- Coordinates advisory committee activities, as appropriate;
- Coordinates advisement of program majors and makes him/herself available during some of the summer for such activities;
- Coordinates off-campus course offerings
- Participates in recruitment of students; and
- Coordinates and maintains community affiliations with agencies for student internship placement sites
- Supervisory Responsibilities
Additional responsibilities for this position will include the following: teach a course load of 12 hours per semester; develop and teach web classes; develop and teach hybrid or blended classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom.
Other responsibilities may include participation in the general education/assessment program, on-going curriculum planning and review; professional/instructional development; participation in committee activities; student registration, advisement, recruitment, and retention activities; and other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements:
- Candidates for this position must have a minimum of a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology and a minimum of three years of associated work in the field.
- Preference will be given to those individuals with at least two years of community college teaching experience
- Preference will be given to those individuals who hold a Texas social work or counseling license to practice in the state.
- Candidates for this position must have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the community college level.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.

- Tuition scholarships are for the employee and dependent children.
- Compensation for this 10.5-month position ranges from $47,157 - Associates degree, $48,160 - Bachelors degree, $50,166 - Masters degree, $58,193 - Doctorate degree. Experience will also be credited up to 15 years. Overload and summer classes are paid separately
Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. Positions will remain open until filled. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
