Job description
Provides support for the Women, Infants and Children's Nutrition Program (WIC) managed by the Coastal Health District. Issue and Mail eWIC cards and shopping list, complete nutrition education via phone. Schedule return WIC appts, assist in WIC Call Center by answering phone calls scheduling apportionments, answering questions WIC related while ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
Applicants must be very detail oriented able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and possess strong customer service and computer skills.

All Coastal Health District, County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
1. Receives, screens and directs telephone communications
2. Opens, sorts and routes incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail
3. Proofreads or verifies existing documents, reports, mathematical figures, etc. to ensure accuracy
4. Provides general clerical support to the District WIC program, to include such tasks as data entry/maintenance, distributing documents and materials, maintaining record-keeping and filing systems, etc
5. Provides direction, instruction, and guidance to WIC participants via the telephone.
6. Schedules appointment for WIC participants
7. Assists internal and external customers with maneuvering through WIC processes.
8. Adheres to the WIC processing standards and guidelines.
High school diploma or GED AND completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university OR One year of experience in a customer service setting communicating information OR One year of experience required at the lower level Customer Svc Rep 1 (GST120) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications: At least 2 years of previous experience working with WIC program and clients in a clerical role. Able to work in a fast paced environment and have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and basic data entry. Previous experience with client and/or medical scheduling software highly favorable. Bilingual- Spanish/English languages a plus.
