Primary
Responsible for the preparation of hot meals.
Specific Duties
Prepare and cook hot meals to be served to dining rooms and outside facilities- Maintain adequate cooking and holding temperatures of food
- Pan, wrap, and label food for storage and delivery
- Safely place food in storage containers for delivery
- Help load dirty dishes for washing
- Keep cooking area clean, neat, and safe; mopping, sweeping, wiping down and sanitization of tables and equipment
- Clean and maintain equipment daily
- Clean and maintain walk in coolers and freezers to maintain FIFO operating standards
- Assist where necessary
- Load and unload pallets safely
- Other related duties as assigned
- Maintain mission focus, it is our team’s responsibility to get all meals safely prepared and delivered every day
- Assist with emergency meal preparation when an emergency community need arises
- Performs any other duties assigned by Head Chef or Sous Chef
- Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated *
- Volunteer engagement and appreciation, as well as Culture of Philanthropy participation are part of all job descriptions at SVdP, and a very important part of the organizational culture and value
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
Minimum 3 years institutional cooking and prep experience
Special
Food Handlers Sanitation Certification
ADA Requirements
Able to sit, stand, walk, hear, speak, see, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to tolerate large variances in temperature from hot to cold.
