Sa lary: $39.00 per hour, ($83,148 average annual compensation)
Work Hours:
Daily: 0630-01630 with 1 hour unpaid lunch.
Biweekly: 36 / 44 hours per week or as requested by Citgo LCMC
We are hiring a Contract Safety Coordinator with a passion for firefighting and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment.
Job Summary:
The Contract Safety Coordinator will support the Citgo LCMC Safety Department with Daily Safety permitting, assistance with Incipient Fire Training, quarterly training and Corporate Fire School. The position will be exposed to all types of weather conditions and temperature fluctuations, from bitter cold to extreme heat and humidity. This position reports to the RMFD Battalion Chief for administrative company matters and to the Citgo LCMC Emergency Planning & Response Manager for daily assignments. This is a non-supervisory RMFD position with scheduled work hours 0630 - 1630 hours with a 1-hour unpaid lunch.
This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to both, the Company's and the Client's Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.

Examples of What You Will Do:
- Backfill CITGO LCMC Shift Safety and AREA Safety employees during training, vacations, and turn-arounds.
- Assist in the delivery of the Annual Incipient Fire Training, Quarterly training and Corporate Fire School.
- Assist with daily Safety permitting as needed.
- Participate in and maintain all required training to include, but not limited to annual Fire School or off-site Live Fire Training, firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials, emergency medical and incident command.
- Assist emergency response team with daily activities and trainings when needed, i.e. apparatus maintenance and inventories, first aid/alcohol & drug testing of contractors, fire extinguisher training, CPR/AED training, and regular in-house daily training.
- Operate and effectively perform radio communication functions, including use of multijurisdictional frequencies, for emergency and non-emergency events.
- Utilize Incident Management System (ICS)/National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols and procedures; coordinate and/or participate in after-action emergency de-briefing with appropriate departments and stakeholders.
- Participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team, when responding to live fire, leaks, spills or other emergency situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Certifications
- State of Louisiana or IFSAC or NPQS Firefighter I/II
- State of Louisiana or IFSAC or NPQS Haz Mat Operations
- State of Louisiana or IFSAC or NPQS Fire Instructor I
- State of Louisiana EMT-Basic
- Current AHA CPR (Professional Rescuer Level)
- Industrial Fire Brigade (NFPA 1081) (preferred)
- Must complete NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 within 30 days of hire date.
Experience:
- Must be employed with Rural Metro Fire a minimum of 12 months with no corrective action, and current on all company required training.
- Must be able to work any shift assigned, including nights, holidays and weekends to include scheduled and unscheduled overtime and as needed on an emergency basis.
Education:
- Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate.
Licensing:
- Valid driver license with acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy. DUI within last 5 years is disqualifying.
- Must pass FBI fingerprint-based criminal history records check to obtain/maintain an Industrial/customer security badge
