The Fox River Water Reclamation District (FRWRD) is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time, non-exempt position of Chemist. FRWRD owns and operates three Wastewater Treatment Facilities in the City of Elgin, IL.

The Chemist position is responsible to analyze wastewater and sludge using USEPA approved methods while meeting quality control requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Analysis of water and wastewater using the current edition of “Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater”

· Analysis of Sludge using “Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste, Chemical/Physical Methods”, also known as SW-846

· Troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and procedures associated with each method.

· Writes the Standard Operating Procedures for each USEPA method

· Preparation of the necessary standards and reagents

· Computerized data entry and maintenance of laboratory database

· Documentation and statistical analysis of quality control parameters

Position Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Chemistry or other science related field

· Experience in water or wastewater analysis preferred

· Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's license and be insurable under District's standards

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The regularly scheduled hours for this position will be 8am – 4pm Monday – Friday. Starting wage is $30.60 – $36.93 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
