As a leader in the search for cures for human disease, the Jackson Laboratory is looking an Associate Project Manager to work with clients in supporting their research needs!
The right candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze data, understand genetics and their impact on development and have experience or deep understanding of the use of animals as models for human disease. A project manager is responsible for understanding and implementing complex research goals in the confines of time and budget. This is accomplished by coordinating a vast array of research services available and using best practice of project management. The ideal candidate will have a firm foundation of scientific understanding, associated with the use of
mouse models of human disease, model generation and/or in vivo pharmacology and experience working with customers or clients. This fast pace position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to think critically and recommend best solutions to meet project goals. Must be able to function fluidly as part of a team. A passion for customer service excellence is a must.
The salary range is $56,576 - $112,472. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interprets what customer’s needs and goals and ensures proper selection of service type.
- Anticipates possible problems or inconsistencies and drives mid-course changes and corrections in order to avoid customer dissatisfaction or cost overruns.
- In conjunction with Project Scientists, Technical Information Services, Study Directors and other subject matter experts, presents and explains to customers various options (workflows) for performing project work.
- Initiates new or renewed JAX Services projects. Supports quotation tracking processes and report generation.
- Coordinates and tracks progress on projects, updating all required databases as needed and anticipates possible problems or inconsistencies and drives mid-course changes and corrections in order to avoid customer dissatisfaction or cost overruns.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Life Science and 2 years of experience managing projects in customer facing role or 10+ years working in a Research or Biotech environment in a project role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication practices in a high-profile environment requiring discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to successful completion.
- Proven ability to organize time effectively and work under time constraints, meet deadlines and prioritize work.
- Proficiency with a variety of software tools including MS Office software, laboratory information management databases, Collaboration software such as Sharepoint; and ERP and CRM.
- Ability to travel 10%.
