Working in the Center for Student Leadership & Engagement (CSLE), the Assistant Director works with high degree of independence leading all aspects of Welcome Week and other Student Transitions programming throughout the year, while maintaining the digital platforms used in the Student Transitions area. Assists with the implementation of all other aspects of the Student Transitions area. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential - Welcome Week Program:
Provides campus-wide leadership and consistency to the planning and implementation of Welcome Week, Clemson's week-long extended orientation program for new students. Act as a resource to campus partners and promote campus-wide involvement in Welcome Week. Responsible for implementing and managing all aspects of Welcome Week including budgeting, assessment, marketing, event planning and risk management with minimal supervision. Selects, recruits, and trains the Welcome Week Executive student team, and 150+ Welcome Week Leader student volunteers who guide new students through Welcome Week. Create and maintain a student leader pipeline to recruit future student leaders from incoming classes of Clemson Students.
30% - Essential - Digital Platforms and Communication:
Build and maintain the Student Transitions area digital platforms including the Virtual Orientation platform, event schedule guides on the Clemson University Events app, and the Student Transitions portion of the Clemson website. Collaborate with campus partners to renew Virtual Orientation content each semester, maintaining over 600 pages of content and proper access for multiple user groups. Creatively improve the accessibility and engagement structure of the Virtual Orientation platform and act as the campus expert to all users for this resource. Create and implement an annual communication plan for new student orientation, welcome week, and throughout various other Student Transition needs.
25% - Essential - Student Transition Initiatives:
Working autonomously, plan, oversee, and implement Student Transitional Initiatives to take place throughout the calendar year. These initiatives are to engage students and ensure a successful transition into the University. These efforts should fit seamlessly with other large CSLE initiatives and events throughout the year.
10% - Essential - Department-wide Initiatives:
Serve as a resource to students in transition; Assist with other department events and initiatives as needed; Serves on departmental or university committees and work groups as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs.
Work Exp 1+ years in student affairs or higher education
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree
Work Exp 2+ years in student affairs or higher education and knowledge of student development, student transitions/success programs, program and event management, student organization advising, and assessment.
