We are pleased to announce the opening of our new UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health (YBH) this summer located in Butner, North Carolina

UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health is a 54 bed inpatient psychiatric facility located in Butner, NC. The hospital is composed of 4 units designed to care for child and adolescent patients with a variety of common mental health diagnoses, including those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In a milieu-based, trauma-informed, therapeutic setting, patients are treated by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapy Services, Social Workers, Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Pastoral Care and Nutrition Services. Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities.


UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health is seeking an Administrative Specialist. The Administrative Specialist will work with all four inpatient psychiatry units; Complex Adolescent, Adolescent Addictions, General Adolescent, and the Intellectual & Development Disabilities Inpatient Psychiatry Units.
The units are part of a 54-bed, 24-hour, locked psychiatric facility.

This is a 40 hours per week position. The position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO hours, which are accrued based on the number of worked hours. Training may be conducted at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, training details for this position will be provided by the manager. This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Heath Care System. This is not a State employed position.

Summary:
Performs duties of an Administrative Associate but with some authority to step outside confines of established procedures. They are also considered the subject matter authority in the administrative area for the department/clinic.


Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in developing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and reconciling financial statements. Investigating discrepancies and processing corrective actions.
2. Coordinating and completing special projects independently or in cooperation with other groups as assigned.
3. Determines administrative needs and making arrangements for conferences, meetings, seminars or other related activities.
4. Extracting and compiling data from written sources, individuals, and/or databases and providing interpretation.
5. Managing departmental information systems.
6. Preparing complex databases, reports, charts, graphs, spreadsheets at designated intervals as requested. Composing formal correspondence and documents for internal or external circulation.
7. Serving as point person for all complex customer service and administrative issues. Interpreting and communicating policies/procedures to other parties based on knowledge of the organization and departmental guidelines. Routinely providing guidance and direction to lower-level staff. Assists with screening applications and conducting initial interviews of entry-level staff as needed. Investigate patient and provider complaints and provide reports with root causes and service recovery.

  • High School diploma or GED
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of clerical or administrative experience
  • If Bachelor's degree, no years of clerical or administrative experience
  • If Associate's degree, one (1) year of clerical or administrative experience
