What we need...

This position will be responsible for supervising the grain settlement and accounts payable team along with processing purchases and sales for the durum product line. This position will work closely with the grain settlement team, accounts payable, external customers, internal merchandisers, and grain elevator employees. This position requires excellent attention to detail, and strong time management and communication skills. This is a hybrid position.

What you'd do....


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead and coordinate the daily activities of the grain settlement and accounts payable team, including work direction, performance management, coaching, and development to maximize team and individual performance.
  • Provide mentoring and leadership to attract, develop, and retain talent.
  • Monitor account balances, track expenses, assist with month end procedures and prepare month end reconciliations.
  • Review and ensure compliance with internal controls and work to make appropriate improvements where needed.

Grain Settlement and Accounts Payable Responsibilities

  • Apply grain ticket applications to purchase and sale contracts.
  • Process grain settlements and advances.
  • Process payments associated with grain procurement.
  • Interpret documents from counterparties (invoices, statements, checks, etc.).
  • Identify and resolve transaction exceptions.
  • Compare and confirm our contracts to counterparties’ contracts ensuring completeness.
  • Handle internal and external customer inquiries with positive customer service.
  • Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Serve as a backup for the team as volume and workloads dictate.
  • Assist with reporting requests and special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years of professional work experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills (in order to work with external customers, rail carriers, merchandising staff, elevator employees, and management).
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and resolve issues independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
