Job Description

Bethel School District is seeking qualified applicants for an 8 hour per day Maintenance II position.

Nature of Work
Positions of this class may be assigned facilities maintenance and semi-skilled repair work of a mechanical nature for Bethel School District. Work includes, but is not limited to scheduled preventive maintenance on grounds keeping and automotive equipment; repair of tools and implements; repairing and maintaining building key lock systems; trouble-shooting and repair of commercial kitchen equipment; low-voltage electrical work; plumbing maintenance and repair; as well as performing work allocated to lower classifications as assigned. A Maintenance II may also assist positions in other trades/maintenance classes as part of a crew.

Assignments will vary, depending on the season of the year and involve working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Work involves the safe operation of welding and fabrication equipment, light duty trucks, and other manual or power tools used in the work.

Examples of Work
These duties are illustrative only. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Repairs and maintains building lock and key systems; maintains hardware for doors, such as door knobs, closures, hinges, panic devices, thresholds, and other related items.
  • Welds and repairs playground equipment, shovels, racks, mower trailers, and other related tools and implements.
  • Picks up and delivers materials and supplies for maintenance and repair activities, schools and departments, and community organizations, using a light duty truck.
  • Trouble-shoots minor automotive and low-voltage electrical problems, e.g., changing fuses and light bulbs, and tracing system shorts.
  • Assists other trades/maintenance workers as part of a crew on a variety of skilled and semi-skilled projects.
  • Performs routine and general maintenance on building systems – drywall repair, painting, and plumbing systems
  • Basic carpentry skills, Framing walls, Doors and windows, siding repair, use of power tools saws, drills.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Oregon Driver's License
  • State of Oregon certification or testing of back flow devices
  • FBI fingerprint and background check
  • New staff must be fully vaccinated to meet the COVID-19 vaccine mandate or have an approved exception.
