The purpose of the VP, National Accounts, Alternative Distribution & Broker Relations is to achieve the segment’s annual membership targets and longer-term growth objectives for Large Group Business (1000+) and provide strategic direction on relationships with external partners.

Responsibilities

The VP, National Accounts, Alternative Distribution & Broker Relations will meet membership and growth targets by continuously optimizing large group focused sales talent and expertise across Humana’s Consultant/Broker/General Agent and Alternate Channels. Serve as a key contributor, influencer and leader of the segment-wide growth strategy. Provide external perspective and customer, broker and partner insights that will inform the advancement of capabilities to improve sales performance, efficacy and productivity, while also driving competitive differentiation in the small business marketplace.

Job Responsibilities

  • Achieve Large Group sales, retention and ending membership goals
    • Lead an integrated, complimentary multi-channel distribution strategy that maximizes growth.
    • Oversee a team of regional Specialty Sales Executives (1000+), Regional Broker Relationship Directors, a team serving GAs and Tech partners and a team responsible for 1000+ and PEO Clients.
    • Continuously evaluate and execute opportunities for cross-channel optimization to maximize the return on Humana’s investment in External Distribution.
    • Actively engage and partner with local market sales teams to achieve 1000+ case size goals.
    • Establish and oversee the deployment of strategies to improve year-over-year 1000+ Group retention and cross-sales.
    • Actively engage and partner with the local market Sales team to achieve new sales growth, leveraging industry, agent / broker, employer segment pursuit strategies noted above.
    • Reengage targeted national consultants and brokerage firms; rebuild credibility as a Specialty carrier.
    • Key contributor and provider of Commercial expertise for large-scale public opportunities .
  • Develop an analytics-informed and market-specific strategy to optimize our 1000+ pursuit tactics.
  • Oversee strategies aimed at fostering and strengthening Humana’s relationships with targeted Consultant, Brokers and General Agents, leveraging broker analytics, refreshed value proposition messaging, broker incentive design and evolving CRM capabilities.
  • Create and oversee a formal feedback mechanism and approach for internal local market teams, agents and employers to help guide improvement of Humana’s overall Broker experience
  • Develop a prioritized inventory and design of investments required to be successful in 1000+ sales (resources, tools, collateral, etc.)
    • Drive product roadmap and sequence based on the voice of the market
    • Deliver a customized experience for Humana’s agents and large group customers.
  • Serve as a subject-matter-expert and drive improvement to identified capability gaps, primarily in the areas of Product, Pricing, Network, Clinical, Service and Customer Reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Health and Life license
  • A measurable track record of success in sales and sales leadership
  • Proven track-record of attracting talent and leading high-performing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of the health insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated ability in building relationships with brokers, consultants, and employer groups.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills and viewed as adaptable and professional when collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Works effectively within a highly matrixed structure.
  • History of initiating and managing change effectively.
  • Lives Humana’s values, with a particular focus on Rethinking Routine.

Additional Information:

  • According to Humana’s COVID-19 policy, vaccination and masking is required regardless of vaccination status (with exception for eating and drinking) for associates working in a clinical setting where patients receive care (e.g., pharmacy retail locations, clinics, home care). The policy only requires the primary series alone (first and second vaccine). Boosters are encouraged, but not required.
