The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Volunteer Coordinator for the Gwinnett County Corps, located in Lawrenceville, Georgia.Job Summary
Sourcing, onboarding, training, placing, and giving feedback to all volunteers supporting the Gwinnett County Corps. Creates a supportive environment that is conducive to attracting and retaining volunteers. Interacts with leadership to assess staffing needs, then ensures that volunteer staffing requirements are met. Prepares and maintains records and reports as required. Is creative and passionate in nurturing community and business relationships to entice volunteer commitment, and accountable for results achieved.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of The Salvation Army programs. Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices. Ability to maintain high energy, creativity, and passion in fulfillment of volunteer coordination role. Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision. Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Officers, employees, volunteers, and the general public. Ability to clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to individuals and groups. Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers. Ability to plan, schedule, and conduct orientations, meetings, trainings, and public presentations in large and small settings. Ability to effectively utilize community resources
Education and Experience
Two (2) year college or technical school degree; And Two (2) years’ experience performing volunteer recruitment and management experience; OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting ad carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Work is performed in an environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
