Job Description: Exec Dir/Vice President, Business Development & Strategic Partnerships
The Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships will develop and lead SiteBridge’s growth strategy through key partnerships and expansion of SiteBridge business, inclusive of Sponsors, CROs and other clinical study vendor partners. The primary accountability/responsibility for this role is to bring studies forward which the SBR Site Network can support by enrolling study participants for these studies. The growth strategy implemented through this role will involve initiating negotiations and lead alignment/partnership with SBR Clinical/Site Development Operations and Community Engagement leadership. They will prioritize, contact, introduce SBR business model and team members to Pharmaceutical companies, diagnostic/medical device companies, CROs and other service providers conducting clinical trials.
The position will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
The position may be located in the Raleigh/Durham area though serious consideration will be given to remote candidates with the prerequisite experience.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and secure business for SiteBridge by developing business relationships for contracting primarily late-stage clinical development programs and/or individual Phase 2-4 clinical studies in alignment with the SBR Site Network therapeutic indications and patient populations
- Develop and secure business for SiteBridge Diversity Planning and Community Engagement offerings
- Represent SiteBridge to the Pharmaceutical and CRO Companies at local, national and international Industry-related meetings pertinent to public relations and future business development; manage corporate meetings and exhibitions
- Evaluate, analyze, and provide strategic recommendations on basis of ongoing partnerships, new markets and emerging Industry trends
- Lead all Sponsor/CRO relationship deals from initial proposals through negotiations and contracting
- Support CEO and Functional Heads with partner negotiations through managing internal relationships knowing the existing contracts and partner specific data
- Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information and guidance relative to Industry trends, Clinical Research needs and SBR Business model
- Establish and maintain industry and client contacts for continuing positive relations and business opportunity development
- Develop and maintain client profiles in SBR contacts and contracts management system
- Maximize market presentation by ensuring ongoing understanding of services, services offered by competitors, and market/industry trends
- Utilize consultative selling skills to target introductory presentations and SiteBridge value proposition to the needs of the prospect organization
- Engage in professional development to further knowledge of the health care provider landscape, focused on drivers to enhance ability to engage with large vs smaller Pharmaceutical companies relative to business needs and opportunities
- Co-develop strategies focused on the partnership services to be provided long-term with Sponsors and CROs in partnership with Clinical and Community Engagement Functional Heads.
- Oversee Business Development Manager(s) who are implementing and completing SBR relationship introductions and contracting of medical practices/physicians and their teams
- Utilize key Industry-related databases to leverage understanding of ongoing drug development for SBR Site Network growth (ie., clintrials.gov., Sponsor-Investor presentations and meetings, CiteLine, SiteTrove, Informa, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, health or equivalent required
- 8-10 years’ healthcare/pharmaceutical/CRO/research site industry experience, preferably related to provider contracting, practice management, and providing services to health care provider organizations, marketing and/or sales
- Demonstrated understanding or experience of drug development through clinical trials preferred
- Thorough knowledge of proposal development for business relationships
- Thorough knowledge of research and pharmaceutical industry, terminology and practices
- Proven ability in presenting internally/externally, communications plan building and contracts negotiating post-proposals development
- Demonstrated business acumen based on success in other roles which reflect critical thinking for strategic plans, business growth and expansion planning, contracts negotiations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, innovative and high-growth environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), CRM (e.g., SalesForce), and databases
- Demonstrated success in other roles which reflect collaborative and effective partner with business and executive leaders; ability to influence decisions across functions
- Ability to travel ~25%-50% time
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
- Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a minimum of 32 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
