Job description
The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Major Responsibilities:
The Value Stream Lead / Supervisor will be directly responsible and accountable for the safety and performance of the department, value streams, or shifts they are assigned to manage. This position will interface with all levels of the organization and is considered a leadership position. The Value Stream Lead / Supervisor will foster the growth in their team, and seek to continuously improve the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost position of the organization. They will always adhere to the Morgan Code of Ethics.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees all assigned area(s) providing the appropriate leadership and training to production personnel and coordinating their work as necessary. Must follow established procedures and approved processes.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate shift activities to deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion by recording, analyzing, and reporting process data.
- By using the available data, suggests and implements plans of action to control or improve the manufacturing process in line with the company’s strategic initiatives.
- Troubleshoots problems, calibrates equipment and monitors maintenance.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication with the Engineering, Quality Control, and all supporting departments.
- Ensure continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
- Attends DGA meetings as required.
- Drives 6-S activities.
- Resolves employee issues in conjunction with Manager and the Human Resources Department, to ensure effective employee relations.
- Effectively manages labor and cost associated with labor to meet expectations.
- Participates in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure workplace Safety by performing Risk Assessments, Hazard spotting tours, Engagement activities and proactively enforcing applicable laws, regulations and Company’s policies and standards.
- Communicates with employees on all levels within the organization.
- High School Diploma; Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field will be an advantage.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing culture and tools.
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing.
- Computer skills, knowledge of, and the ability to work with, Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Problem analysis and resolution.
- Proven ability to lead people and drive results in a team environment.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing setting.
- Self-starter, self-motivated, hands-on.
- Strong ability to work independently and under pressure with minimal supervision.

- Bilingual a plus.
- Must be familiar with ERP Systems
- Must be proficient In Microsoft Office
- Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format
- Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and superiors in all departments of the Company as well as external contacts

- Work performed mostly on the shop floor.
- Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility.

- Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, and odors.
- Must be capable of reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up to 40 lbs.
