What the day will look like
The Underwriting Specialist supports the new business production underwriters and renewal business. Accountable for data entry and policy issuance and documentation using multiple systems. Will communicate with customers, vendors and track and submit daily productivity results using Excel spreadsheets and multiple system analytics. Learn multiple product lines and anticipate customer needs to provide quality service. Answer client phone calls and effectively communicate program guidelines to the client and answer any questions related to the specific programs. Review, evaluate and approve insurance applications and related documents. Follow up with client or agent on pending information needed for a complete submission following the specific guidelines. Prepare files for renewal solicitation. Verify accounts are still within the parameters of underwriting guidelines. Communicate with policy operations on the execution of tasks needed to bind an account or complete a client's request. Develop and maintain positive and constructive working relationships with underwriters, marketing professionals, brokers, and policy operations associates to provide high quality service to clients. Assist in review and assignments of emails in unit shared email boxes, including e-commerce websites. Meet performance standards determined by Key Performance Indicators. Maintain an established level of productivity using time management techniques. Work independently with moderate supervision within a team environment.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
Insurance industry work experience helpful - insurance agency experience preferred
1+ years office work experience in administrative or customer service role
Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented
Experience with the Microsoft office suite products (Word, Excel)
Property and Casualty license preferred – must be obtained within six months of hire date
P&C licensing and costs associated with the coursework, will be paid by Aon!
Ability to maintain and display a positive attitude, supporting business needs and changes.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work with frequent and multiple policy, procedure, and regulation changes. (Proficiency at keying alpha and numeric information with accuracy and speed.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in preferred, high school diploma required

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $41,000 to $56,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Fairborn, OH. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
