As the
Training Specialist you will work with the Training Coordinator to develop enhancements and improvements to the plant production employee training program, Provide training support for production operators and production supervisors on afternoon shift (Monday through Friday, 2AM-10AM) Assist the continuous improvement group in the successful deployment of sustainable improvement projects across plant operations. Work with the union workforce to oversee advancements in our continuous improvement and training programs, further growing overall employee engagement and satisfaction. Lead and promote the “PPG Way” and demonstrate positive behavior when working with trainees and trainers. Be a member of the HOP & 6S leadership teams. Advocate and train workforce on HOP & 6S principles and tools. Teach and coach trainees and qualified personnel on the requirements and expectations of the production roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish expected training benchmarks for the sections of training, monitor progress of the trainee, test comprehension, and frequently review status with trainee and management.
- Ensure training program meets OSHA Process Safety Management standards, and establish the proper mix of hands-on learning and book learning.
- Maintain records of trainees’ progress including proof of comprehension.
- Improve quality of trainee and efficiency of training timeline.
- Assess current trainees and trainer’s comprehension level to improve area knowledge. Implement corrective training actions where needed. Help identify/designate the skill level of trainers.
- Support Training Coordinator in reviewing training content. Help with rollout and sustain online training program that will be used for new hire and refresher training.
- Participate in and conduct production interviews.
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of resin processing equipment and procedures..
- Demonstrated results in training and developing others.
