The Technology Systems Engineer is a full-time position responsible for the routine administration of the organization’s corporate systems and providing support for Morton Buildings, Inc.’s computer network, cloud, and security systems to ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of key network infrastructure including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs, servers, and SAN/NAS for the entire organization.
  • Serves as a technical point of contact for assigned systems; providing 24/7 on-call support to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve escalated service issues; interfacing with users, external vendors, and customers as necessary.
  • Implements and enforces security, utilizing company and industry security best practices to mitigate and remedy security related threats.
  • Assists in researching, designing, planning, documenting, and maintaining new or existing hardware, infrastructure, software platforms and software technologies and their components.
  • Participates in the creation and maintenance of IT-related policies and procedures that support the employees, systems, and network environments.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other departmental teams, coaching technicians when needed, and serving as Tier II support for the Help Desk team to resolve higher-level technical issues.
  • Maintains a professional level of proficiency with information technology trends and issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Network Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar field or position
  • Role-related certifications are preferred
  • Microsoft core systems administration (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, PKI, etc.)
  • OS management experience using patch management, imaging, and deployment systems.
  • Office 365 administration in an enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on with public cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Scripting and automation skillsets utilizing Powershell, Python or other.
  • Virtualization platform knowledge (VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V).
  • Network architecture and support of LANs, WANs, WLANs, VLANs, DMZs, VPNs, Firewalls, Routers and Switches.
  • VoIP administration and troubleshooting.
  • Cybersecurity principals. Knowledge of how to utilize network security best practices, AV, IPS, Web Proxies, Mail filtering and logs to secure systems and remediate security related incidents.
  • Backup and disaster recovery best practices and experience with bare metal, virtual and cloud-based backup and restore from disk or other media.
  • Working understanding of operation systems, including Windows, Linux, and Mac.
  • Experience developing technical documentation and writing standard operating procedures
  • Workstation and server hardware knowledge and how to size equipment appropriately.
