Smartronix NAVAIR Boundary Team is seeking a Senior Network Administrator-Team Lead to support network and systems engineering efforts. A successful candidate will have experience working with network infrastructure devices and protocols, and a proven ability to design, deploy, and maintain solutions supporting high-availability network infrastructures. Candidates must be highly motivated and will be required to respond to and provide resolutions to problems on a timely basis. This position involves the planning, configuring, managing, monitoring, managing teams, and troubleshooting of a variety of network systems. This position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation and off-hours maintenance windows.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the Boundary team ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and that the work load is evenly distributed among the team.
  • Be the main voice for the Boundary team in communications with other Data Center teams, customers and Govt.
  • Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and application-level connectivity and performance problems as assigned using the ticketing system
  • Design highly available systems architectures using traffic management technology
  • Deploy new devices per engineered plans as assigned
  • Manage NAVAIR Security Boundaries – Maintain boundary security suites at NAVAIR core sites. Suites include Cisco switches and routers, F5 Big-IP load balancers
  • Work with NCDOC, NAVAIR IA, and PMOs to investigate network security incidents
  • Design, implement, and maintain DoD PK-Enablement Solutions for NAVAIR
  • Support NMCI/Legacy network interoperability and cloud migration efforts
  • Manage and administer F5 BigIP and Cisco network devices
  • Interface closely with management team by providing necessary notifications, assisting with reports and data calls
  • Perform monthly audit review of STIG standards and STIG updates of assigned devices
  • Perform weekly review of ACAS vulnerabilities and participate in the remediation planning and execution
  • Assist with maintaining team documentation including work instructions, SOPs, processes and desk guides
  • Work cohesively with other teams in support of the Data Center
  • This position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation and off-hours maintenance windows.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Data Center Management team

Required Skills and Experience:

  • On site requirement: 1 day per week (Pax River, MD)
  • Required clearance to start: Active DoD Secret Clearance, ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
  • DoD 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) (Examples of minimum acceptable certifications-CCNA Security, CySA+, G SEC, Security+ CE, SSCP)
  • 5+ years' experience with Cisco Catalyst configuration and support
  • 5+ years' experience with Cisco Nexus configuration and support
  • 5+ years' experience with Cisco Firepower configuration and support
  • 5+ years' experience with F5 BIG-IP configuration and support
  • 5+ years' experience with IP networking design
  • 5+ years' experience with virtual server environments
  • Knowledge of DoD Information Assurance practices, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
  • Must be able to interact with peers, management, and senior engineers in a constantly evolving environment to ensure a positive customer experience and atmosphere in the workplace.
  • Must be able to follow defined and documented customer processes and policies
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take on the initiative to learn more advanced operations and technologies
  • Experience working with network infrastructure devices and protocols, and a proven ability to design, deploy, and maintain solutions supporting high-availability network infrastructures.
  • Must be highly motivated and will be required to respond to and provide resolutions to problems on a timely basis.
  • Experience with planning, configuring, managing, monitoring and troubleshooting of a variety of network systems.
  • Experience with Windows OS

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with Unix a plus
  • Experience with BIND a plus
  • Experience with DoD networks is a plus Proven skills in routing, switching, firewalls
  • Cisco CCNA preferred
  • Previous leadership experience in a DoD enterprise environment
