Provides direct supervision, required guidance, and instruction to Inspectors. Performs maintenance inspection on aircraft as required. Assists with the administration of company, department, and other applicable policies. Performs duties required by the Director, Quality Assurance/Chief Inspector when designated.

Essential Functions:

  • Always follow (never deviate from) approved published procedures unless proper deviation approval is authorized.
  • Provide direct supervision, required guidance, and instruction to inspectors and receiving inspectors.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, shops and stores as required to ensure progress and timely completion of inspection tasks.
  • Audit and monitor the aircraft maintenance and inspection functions to ensure the airworthiness of Frontier aircraft.
  • Distribute and monitor inspector work assignments (as required) during C-Check, RON and line maintenance, and outsourced maintenance activities.
  • Monitor Inspector performance and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Provide detailed turnovers of work in progress for incoming shift.
  • Conduct lost and found tool investigations and complete associated reports.
  • Assist with recurrent and on-the-job training for assigned Inspectors.
  • Act as the NDT Administrator as directed by and on behalf of the Director, Quality Assurance/Chief Inspector. These duties will include assisting the responsible level 3 NDT inspector/trainer in coordinating initial and recurrent training, provide oversight and instruction to less experienced inspectors during on-the-job training. Track initial, recurrent and on-the-job training. Provide monthly reports to the training department for qualification status updates. Individuals serving in this capacity shall at a minimum be a Frontier Airlines Level 2 certified inspector or above.
  • Assist with work schedules, days off, vacation and training schedules.
  • Review C-Check non-routines with maintenance supervision for accuracy, quality, technical content, and repair requirements as necessary.
  • Monitor the in-process and proper completion of all required aircraft records (as required) during C-Check, RON and line maintenance, and outsourced maintenance activities.
  • Provide Inspection oversight IAW GMM 21 when assigned to outsourced maintenance projects.
  • Ensure audit of required aircraft records is performed during outsourced maintenance activities (as required), C-Check, RON, and periodic review of line maintenance documents.
  • Ensure required SDR reporting is timely and complete.
  • Ensure required Dent Map reporting is timely and complete.
  • LOI Evaluate aircraft equipment, tooling, and support equipment for new training topics per GMM 100.01: Maintenance Training General Information
  • Input and remove of all tooling from appropriate FMIS.
  • Address all lost tools in accordance with Frontier’s policies and procedures.
  • Enter and control data for calibrated tooling in FMIS.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of Inspection personnel in maintaining the FAA-approved Continuous Analysis and Surveillance System (CAS System).
  • Participate in the development and improvement of the maintenance program by identifying concerns and providing suggestions for resolution.
  • Provide constant oversight for safety-related issues.
  • Responsible for housekeeping/cleanliness of all Inspection department work areas
  • Evaluate the need for and approve overtime as necessary.
  • Perform first line supervisor duties and responsibilities in union related matters.
  • Must be able to travel frequently (both foreign and domestic).
  • Perform Shift Turnover as required per GMM 09.

Qualifications:

  • Current Mechanic Certificate with both airframe and powerplant ratings, held for at least 5 years
  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience on different types of large airplanes with 10 or more passenger seats with an air carrier or certificated repair station, 1 year of which must have been as maintenance inspector
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining the same category and class of aircraft as Frontier Airlines operates - preferred
  • Must be Fleet Qualified on Frontier’s aircraft

NOTE: Director of Quality Assurance/Chief Inspector may approve deviation from non-regulatory qualifications through a review of comparable experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to obtain, hold, and maintain Required Inspection Item (RII) authorization
  • Shall have a current US Passport or shall be able to obtain a US Passport within 3 months of assignment in the Inspection department
  • Excellent knowledge of transport category aircraft systems, structures, engineering drawings, support manuals and Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Ability to lead and motivate Inspectors in positive and professional manager; provide timely constructive feedback about their performance
  • Knowledgeable in company and union policy and procedures
  • Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner with subordinates, peers and other department personnel
  • Strong computer and administrative skills
  • Must have ability to plan, organize and administrate workloads to subordinates
  • Must demonstrate behavior that portrays the company core values of Safety, Respect, Trust, Collaboration, Value, and Passion while communicating with personnel and acting on behalf of the company.

Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000
