We are looking for a Superintendent – UG Asset Management to establish and lead a team for the management of both fixed and mobile equipment to support operational readiness for mining of the Lower Commercial Skarns (LCS) and on-going mining at Kennecott Underground.

This role is instrumental in ensuring fixed and mobile equipment required for underground operations are managed, ensuring a safe work environment, asset availability and budget management while committing to the on-going improvement of systems and processes supporting asset management. Reporting to the Manager – UG Operations and working in a collaborative environment, you will:

  • Plan, lead and oversee the safe execution of an integrated Asset Management Plan, actively setting the standard for safety, procedural compliance, and fatality prevention.
  • Coordinate, participate in and ensure safe risk management practices are developed and maintained, ensuring all activities meet a risk profile acceptable to RTK.
  • Assist with the procurement of fixed and mobile equipment to support operational readiness and on-going mining operations.
  • Responsible for contractor management activities involving fixed and mobile equipment, including the creation of new Contractor Management Plans when new contractors are onboarded.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including contractors and technical teams to ensure Asset Management is running efficiently and effectively, ensuring all project objectives are met.
  • Actively identify, recommend, and implement potential improvements with a focus on Asset Management equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Undertake regular inspections to ensure that all standards, policies, and procedures are complied with in the operations area.
  • Plan and implement asset management systems, processes and practices for underground projects and operations.
  • Implement and lead relevant audit and assurance activities across the scope of asset management system.

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience leading projects and teams.
  • 5+ years prior experience leading asset management.
  • Knowledge of the key value drivers in the mining industry and project management skills with ability to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Experience in project management, change management, cross functional team leadership and risk management practices.
  • Understanding business improvement methodology, including lean production.
  • Good written and oral communication skills & computer proficient in the Microsoft office Suite.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Industrial or related field.
  • Experience with regulatory systems in the US, including federal agencies (e.g. MSHA, EPA, CFR, etc.)
