Position Summary
The Student Enrollment & Retention Specialist provides culturally competent support services designed to improve institutional retention and completion by assisting students to navigate the complex collegiate environment, and helping them to meet their academic goals. The Student Enrollment and Retention Specialist will assist students in a variety of supportive services and activities to ensure progression from application submission and enrollment, to career or transfer degree completion. This position works in collaboration with recruiters, academic advisors and various student support service professionals.
Reporting and Supervisory Relationships
Direct reporting relationship to Manager of Enrollment and Retention
Essential Responsibilities
1. Acts as liaison to at‐risk students whether self‐identified or faculty/staff identified and provides referrals to necessary college supports and services.
2. Responds to faculty/staff submitted Early Alerts and supports students in establishing goals to promote success and maintain records of student academic progress.
3. Acts as a liaison for academic support services such as tutoring, library services, and distance learning support.
4. Acts as a liaison between various student service areas such as Advising, Enrollment Services, Office of Disability Services, Career Services and Financial Aid.
5. Participates in College’s community outreach events as directed by the area manager
6. Supports individual recruitment and academic advising support services by encouraging students who have applied to register at the college.
7. Supports students with enrollment choices including course, academic plan and/or program of study, connecting to college and community resources, etc.
8. Supports academic advising by reviewing students in queuing software and verifying necessary documentation, confirming or rescheduling appointments.
9. Supports academic advising by managing queuing software and staffing reception desk. Supports the college in new student enrollment and registration initiatives.
10. Connects student to resources and opportunities for students to explore career and degree options.
11. Serves as receptionist to the administrators in charge of the offices of assignment; places outbound and receives inbound calls, schedules appointments, and makes travel arrangements supervisors; handles requests for information/assistance as possible.
12. Utilizes software to monitor and record student progress, identifies and provides resources, conducts student meetings, and makes appropriate referrals as needed to facilitate student success.
13. Conducts ad-hoc calling campaigns throughout the year (i.e. registration, billing, student well-being checkups etc.)
14. Assists staff in identifying trends and researching best practices in community outreach, student retention, persistence, and completion.
15. Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the department and provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty and community.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Associate’s degree or 30 hours of college credits with two years of higher education experience.
2. Experience in recruitment, retention or related area of higher education.
3. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
4. Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills with solid proficiency with computer software.
5. Evidence of commitment and ability to work in teams with ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Recruitment or advising experience in a community college setting.
2. Case management experience.
3. Experience using Colleague.
4. Prior experience working with students in a community college setting.
Anticipated Work Hours and Days
Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. One to two days per week, 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
