Description:

Our Low Observables (LO) team at Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control business is seeking an Engineer or Scientist to join our team in sunny Orlando, Florida. In this exciting and cutting-edge aerospace role, the engineer will have the opportunity to assist with the development, , manufacturing, and testing of Low Observable components and vehicles.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to work independently and in small teams and participate in Government forums and internal program reviews.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to analyze, research, , and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes for use in the engineering of and/or application in structures, systems, and subsystems.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to perform, analyze, and communicate vehicle signature predictions using Unix-based codes and tools.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to plan and/or execute laboratory measurements of material coupons to determine physical, electrical, and/or properties.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to engage in the research, , computational electromagnetic modeling, fabricating, and testing of advanced electromagnetic metamaterials.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to plan, perform, post-process, and communicate the results of laboratory and vehicle signature measurements, writing and using scripts for batch analysis and post-processing.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to perform development, , and maintenance of signature prediction tools using , , Java, Fortran, , and Python.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to employ CAD software literacy for model cleanup and meshing.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Must be a US Citizen and have an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must be SAP clearable.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree; or 9 years of professional experience with a related Ph.D.
  • Demonstrated RF engineering analysis skills are required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present final reports and technical briefings to large groups are required.
  • Experience working with algorithms and related software tools such as or similar is required.
  • The ability to work effectively with customers and clients is required.
  • The ability to develop and execute robust R&D plans to meet needs defined by management or the customer, concisely describe a method for implementing the technical approach and provide reasonable cost/schedule estimates for the work required.
  • Demonstrated expertise with LO Materials development, integration, and evaluation for optical elements.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and enhancing optical windows and apertures.

Desired Skills:


  • Active Top Secret clearance would be a plus.
  • Previous experience in low observables (LO), survivability, or susceptibility is desired.
  • Basic knowledge in radar cross-section reduction (RCSR) or radio frequency (RF) antenna /integration is desired.
  • Familiarity with LO modeling and predictions: Computational electromagnetics (CEM), Hybrid Finite Element, Boundary Integral method (FE-BI), Method of Moments (MoM), Xpatch, SENTRi, HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, FDTD is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of RADAR, RF materials, and RF material measurements are desired.

Security Clearance Statement:

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level:

Secret with an investigation within 5 years

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position:

4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
