We are Para la Naturaleza, a non-profit organization focused on the conservation of the islands of Puerto Rico. We are looking for an individual to join our team as Senior Project Manager. This is a hybrid position, based in our headquarters at Old San Juan. Sr. Project Manager will provide direction on what project management methodologies are used when managing the project, whether traditional waterfall or an agile framework. This professional will support the development and deployment of Para La Naturaleza (PLN) Project Management Training Program.
Sr. Project Manager will assist project teams to organize projects with the goal of getting them completed on time and within budget. In addition, he/she may support the oversee PLN projects portfolio to ensure that active projects are managed following the defined processes and standards; monitors and reports portfolio status to assure it is achieving the goals and objectives of the organization. He/she may be tasked with managing one or more portfolios and/or strategic projects, as applicable; will evaluate the project management process, and recommends improvements.
This is a contracted position (professional services) to be hired for a period of 12 months.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver required education on Project Management methodologies to enhance organization capabilities. Responsible of PMO Training Program.
- Responsible for approval of all phases of the projects by implementing the PLN Project Life-Cycle Methodology (review and approval of the individual program and project charters, requirements, scope, schedule, risk management plan presented by our clients).
- Ensure that internal client issues are addressed to meet the client’s goals; assure compliance with organization policies, standards, and practices.
- Assure compliance of project objectives.
- Maintain and monitor performance of projects within portfolio.
- Provide support to projects permitting plans and assure compliance with local and state regulations.
- Provide support to projects safety plans and assure compliance with OSHA and PROSHA regulations is a plus.
- Present programs and portfolio status to the project team, Stakeholders and Leadership, as required.
- Identify and manage areas of improvement.
- Ability to establishing project intake, portfolio management and a delivery pipeline that meets the needs of Executive Leadership and the delivery teams.
- Conduct periodic review of proposed projects to determine duplicate of effort, the ability to consolidate projects to achieve similar goals/objectives, and to validate continued need against evolving mission objectives and vision.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with managing clients and teams.
- Proven success in a corporate setting, working with all levels of management.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, science or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience as Project Manager.
- CAPM or PMP Certification required.
- Experience managing several large, high-profile projects concurrently.
- Proven to have taken the initiative providing leadership in solving problems, improving processes, and providing a better experience for the organization.
- Budget tracking and financial forecasting.
- Able to see tasks through to completion with little to no guidance.
