WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Software Developer (IT Applications Analyst) in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the office.
This is a job family (Associate IT Applications Analyst/IT Applications Analyst/Senior IT Applications Analyst) posting where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered.
Job Summary
This role architects and develops software to provide solutions to advance critical business processes benefiting many different clients and areas across the company. It provides the opportunity to work on a variety of technical solutions working in a fast pace and dynamic environment. Collaboration with IT and business partners is an essential aspect of this role with a goal of creating robust, scalable, and reusable low maintenance solutions. The role will have regular involvement with transformational IT projects as well as daily support of their team area. Daily activities include work across all phases of the system development life cycle involving full stack development with custom 3rd party software applications, back-end databases, integrations, and other deliverables. Following established development standards and common practices is necessary and strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. A solid understanding of the system development life cycle as well as IT processes and systems are a plus.
Job Responsibilities
- Apply analytical skills, consult, and collaborate with others to solve problems and build relationships with IT and business partners.
- Design, modify, develop, test, configure and implement programs, scripts, processes and procedures.
- Apply and develop IT standards and/or industry best practice to software design, coding and testing.
- Work within company tools, processes, and standards and learn to best use them during creation, analyzing, and maintaining of code.
- Integrate in-house developed and 3rd party applications utilizing company standards.
- Extend skills in the programing languages and platforms considered standard in the organization (e.g. JavaScript, PowerShell, Angular, SQL, .Net etc.)
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of application architecture, including integrations with other technical components (hardware, databases, interfaces, applications).
- Research new technologies as needed for solutions to business problems to determine the best solution.
- Provide day-to-day client support including participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation
- Adapt to inevitable change on projects and execute appropriate governance processes as needed.
- Develop and use a variety of IT skills across five main disciplines or areas of emphasis: System Integration, Systems Analysis & Administration, Software Engineering & Development, Project Management & Delivery, and Data Analytics & Architecture
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering. Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, MIS, or Engineering. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, successful completion of a certified Application Development Apprenticeship will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understands and executes the required governance processes for the full IT project lifecycle (e.g. initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, closure).
- .NET (VB / C#) , Angular, Microsoft SQL Server experience, VB Script, Web Services (WCF, SOAP, RESTful) TFS/Azure Dev Ops, Integration and Testing Experience
- Understands and has worked under different project methodologies and concepts (e.g. Work Breakdown Structure, Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, etc.).
- Possesses skills and working familiarity in Project Management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Project Web App (PWA), etc.)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
