The Advanced Sensor Systems and Test Beds Group (Group 33) conducts exciting research in the development and demonstration of advanced sensor systems and command and control (C2) architectures for the U.S. Government. The Group incorporates emerging technologies in autonomy, distributed systems, signal and data processing algorithms, and open system architectures into system design concepts, enabling innovative solutions to complex problems. Current research activities within the group include the upgrade of 5 large radar systems (4 dish radars and 1 phased array radar) operated by the Department of Army on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The upgrade will replace obsolete radar hardware and software, and also deliver advanced capabilities. Example advanced capabilities include system/mission automation and dynamic resource scheduling, advanced flexible waveforms and electronic warfare techniques, and advanced signal and data processing algorithms.
Job Description
Group 33 is seeking technical staff members to serve as software architects for several radar upgrade programs within the Group. The software architect leads the development of real-time radar command and control software programs. Core architect functions include: leading the real-time software development by implementing a scalable open system design architecture; application of artificial intelligence technologies to enable intelligent system automation; software management using modern tools for task management and code version-control; and ensuring information assurance compliance via RMF accreditation.
Requirements
Technical staff member with extensive real-time software development experience for sensor systems, including publish/subscribe object-oriented software design experience, application of AI/ML and/or other advanced processing techniques. Candidate should have software-developer team management experience, including tracking tasks, creating and maintaining schedules, and working closely with Program Managers. Candidate should demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, sponsors, and other research organizations. Candidate will contribute to concept development, analysis, prototyping, and evaluation of command and control architectures and advanced sensor systems.
