1. General Description of the Position's Function and Purpose
Reporting to the General Manager or on-site Supervisor, this role is an electronic or mechanical support maintenance role. This role will perform daily duties at a Yamaichi facility or at an assigned customer site.
Service Technicians will maintain, rework, build, calibrate and test electrical systems and components or mechanical equipment, machinery and components. Measuring and diagnostic tools will be used to test, modify and validate functionality and ensure the systems/components meet established specifications. Daily progress reports and pass downs to other stake holders may be required. Identifies parts needed for replacement/repair and places orders as necessary. Completes all work in accordance with established safety guidelines.
There are 2 positions available, 1 day shift, 12-hour shifts, and 1 night shift, 12-hours shifts
The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years experience in an assembly/manufacturing environment.
2. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are applicable to equipment which include: TIU Boards, Actuator Panels, Material Handling Carts, Tape and Reel feeders, Furnace/Ovens, Cleaning Systems, Valves, Burn-in boards, Printed Circuit Boards, and other. The role of this person is to use tools, solvents, test equipment and qualification techniques to ensure equipment of operating to specification.
- PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE performs timely cleanings, calibrations and adjustments to equipment as scheduled by Yamaichi or customer.
- REWORK/REBUILD performs necessary trouble shooting and parts replacements to equipment as defined by Yamaichi or customer. Parts replacement include mechanical parts and electronic components, such as sockets, resistors, capacitors, and connectors.
- TESTING/CALIBRATION follows documented procedures to test and calibrate equipment to ensure it is functioning within the specifications. Ensures all equipment meets or exceeds specifications prior to releasing equipment back into use.
- PROCEDURES/PROCESSES performs duties based on documented specifications and processes. Escalates need for documentation or revisions to documentation if required.
- DOCUMENTATION/COMMUNICATION using PC, provides daily reports (or more frequent) on status of equipment. Ensures all primary stakeholders are updated and provides pass down communication to other team members as required. Escalates quality excursions to appropriate personnel.
- KIT PREPARATION/FINAL ASSEMBLY builds and crates sub-assemblies, systems, and components for shipment to customer per BOMs/Drawings.
- PARTS ORDERING ensure parts needed to perform PM and Reworks are ordered and available in a timely manner. If parts are not available, then escalation to senior personnel is required.
- SAFETY must follow/comply with all Yamaichi and (if applicable) all customer safety policies.
3. Knowledge/Skills Required by the Job
- Good hand to eye coordination with the ability to work with hand-tools (screw drivers, pliers, tweezers, soldering irons, microscope, etc.).
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, PCB schematics and Assembly Drawings.
- Ability to ask questions for uncertain objectives, tasks, and/or priorities.
- Soldering skills to remove and replace components on PCB’s is a plus.
- Basic PC skills with knowledge of EXCEL.
